Youth in Transition was formed in 1995 in response to the thousands of homeless and at-risk street youth in Albuquerque, New Mexico who cannot or will not access other services, who are under-served and whose problems are deep and severe. These are young people, primarily ages 15-24 (though we have served youth as young as 12 who are living on the streets alone) who have been thrown away and turned away by other service providers and society as a whole, primarily because of the nature of the problems they bring with them and the difficulty in making a positive impact with the most damaged and needy of our young people, those who are not a "quick fix" population.
